Common
Common Cause - The Community Alliance
Project overview
Digital infrastructure for a pan-European LGBTQIA+ alliance
I architected and built this multi-lingual platform (14 languages) using Next.js and TypeScript, prioritizing extreme performance and accessibility. Working closely with the branding studio DUO, I translated a bold, activist visual identity into a pixel-perfect, responsive interface. The technical highlight is a robust internationalization system I implemented to support 14 languages, ensuring the movement's message crosses borders without technical friction.
Speed was a feature. As political pressure mounted in Austria, and Common Cause converged towards a launch, we needed a platform immediately. I spun up the initial production-grade version in days, not weeks, iterating live based on the branding's evolving needs. It is a living example of agile development serving activism - deploying fast, scaling efficiently, and maintaining a zero-tracking privacy policy to protect our community members. The web-form needed security hardening, rate-limiting/DDoS protection and for a sleak demo-effect during the live event, I implemented a Coming Soon countdown screen with a "Release Website" button, giving users the experience to participate in the launch, fitting to the inclusive branding.

Core Team, Infrastructure & Governance
Strategic leadership beyond the code
My role extended far beyond the website delivery. Over the last year, as part of the core strategic team, I helped shape the organization's infrastructure, tools and governance while managing its digital footprint. I selected and implemented secure tooling, managed DNS and hosting infrastructure, and ensured our tech stack aligned strictly with our values of safety and independence. I didn't just build the website; I built the digital ecosystem that allows the organization to operate.
What goes around comes around. Transalpen got a digital presence that normally costs 1000€+. I got the satisfaction of helping a good cause and the knowledge that when they succeed, I was part of that story. Sometimes the best investments are the ones you don't expect returns from. And maybe I need help transporting soon, because I never wanted a drivers license.
